In order to begin your NoSolder ModChip modification you will need
the following:
Now that you have the materials we are ready to modify the PlayStation2
CAUTION: Disconnect all power and A/V cords from
your PlayStation 2 and ensure that all devices including memory cards,
controllers, compact discs and / or DVD’s are removed from the
system.

Turn your PlayStation 2 upside down and remove all 8 screw caps (4 rubber
and 4 plastic). These caps cover the PlayStation 2 assembly screws.
Note: Four of the 8 case screws are 2 1/2" in length,
and all screws must be re-used in their appropriate holes only. |

(Tip: Pry the caps off gently using a small flat head
screw driver.)

Remove the (4 + 4) base screws. Place the screws in a safe spot |

After you have removed all 8 of the case screws, you will need to turn
the PlayStation 2 right-side-up and remove the top cover. Lift the top
cover of the PlayStation 2 case up and away from the exposed controller
ports and drive tray on the front of the console. Important:
The top of the PlayStation 2 is attached to the bottom via a
thin ribbon cable which connects to the Reset/Eject switch. Ensure not
to damage or remove this ribbon cable when removing the PlayStation 2
top. |

Remove the power and eject buttons as shown in the following illustration:

Remove the screws as shown below to remove the lower casing of the PlayStation
2 console: |

At the left side, near the CD tray, there are 3 flat ribbon cables,
as shown in the first of the two following pictures. Unplug the left and
the middle one of the three cables. |

Connect the two flat cables to the PlayStation 2 NoSolder Modchip Board: |

Now connect the PlayStation 2 NoSolder Modchip to the two connectors
where you previously removed the two flat cables. |

After double-checking all connections follow the
above steps in reverse order to re-assemble the PlayStation 2.
Once you have completely re-assembled the unit, plug in your power source
and video outputs. Power up the PlayStation2.
Test the unit FIRST with an original game. |
